    Description

Rare antique covered two-handled sugar bowl made by Furnivals of England in the popular blue & off-white transferware pattern known as "Quail." This pattern dates to the 1920s.  Quail features lovely scenes of quails among trees and flowers with various floral and leaf borders.  This is the "large" sugar bowl with lid, measuring 5 1/2" tall to the top of the finial with the lid on, and 7" across from handle to handle.  The finial is shaped and painted like an acorn. The bowl does have a hairline crack which runs from halfway through the base to the bottom of one of the handles, and the area around the crack is crazed with some brown discoloration (see photos).  The crack does not affect the integrity of the bowl (still holds solids and liquids securely, I tested it!), and I think this type of wear is part of the charm of transferware, but that is for you to decide!  Please feel free to message with any questions.
