    History of these coins:
During the later period of the Roman empire Christianity began to replace paganism.  This change was reflected in their coinage.
Gone were the images of emperors replaced instead with images of Jesus Christ and religious inscriptions called "Christo grams".
    These coins represent
    significant change in the
world's religious direction and have become highly collectible.
The coin offered an Imperial Classed "1854" which is a transition coin showing royal figure(s) on one side and Jesus on the other.
    1854's have the following characteristics:
Manuel I Comnenus. 1143-1180. AE Tetarteron. Constantinople mint.
Obv.: IC – XC, facing bust of Christ Emmanuel.
Rev.: Facing bust of Manuel, holding labarum and globus cruciger.
Often overstruck on Anonymous follis, traces mostly seen on the obverse.  Scarce issue!
